Staff very friendly and helpful, centrally located in DT GP. Decent selection of restaurants that you can walk to from the hotel. A little weird to be in an "old room" while guys are renovating brand-new rooms on the other half of the same floor. If I knew this, I'd have asked for a "new" room!
This is an old hotel, however they are in the process of renovation to renew the rooms for the guests. I stayed in one of the renovated rooms and it is pretty nice. The location is right in the middle of Grande Prairie so there are a lot of places within walking distance. Even though it is downtown, the location has a pretty big parking lot; I have a huge truck and have never had issues parking. 4/5 stars overall, would be perfect if the price was a bit better on average. The location is a bit grungy, there are riff-raff who skulk around the hotel every night, and the bar does not have a friendly atmosphere.
Room was clean and comfortable, a few small issues though- Room key stopped working at one point. Both times I went to the front desk it was unattended (with no bell to ring), had to wait around. Upper floors are being renovated and aren't very presentable at the moment. Poor wifi performance as well, even during off-peak hours.
Very clean & nice room! A lot of construction going on during the day. Close to hosptial & offer lower medical rate. Very pleased!
"Maid Amends"Short stay as we had been driving a long time and pulled into the hotel around midnight.Room was clean/tidy. Queen bed was cozy.Quiet and did not hear a thing outside the room.We were looking forward to a hot shower in the morning and unfortunately the faucet tap was broke. Tried calling down to the reception desk and no answer even on the 3rd time calling.Went to the receptionist desk and spoke with the manager. She explained in a very kind demeanor for why there was not an answer for our calls to the front desk and as well she dealt with the shower issue professionally.We received a fare percentage off the price of the stay and an upgrade for the next time we are in town.We left the Sandman with a good taste rather than bad and we feel confident that we will stay again at the Sandman as we have always appreciated the classiness of the staff/hotel from our past adventures with the SandmanSteve&Stace
